We had a young lady who had 3 cm large stone in the left Kidney. Normally, for such large stones, we do not do RIRS since it is reserved for stones which are less than 2 cm. (Read More About RIRS Here)
However, after getting diagnostic imaging, her CT Urographs as well as X Rays gave an impression of soft stone. Hence, with our expertise and experience we made a call to go for RIRS (flexible ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy).
The procedure was a success as expected. The lady had total clearance within 3 weeks.

Overall, we want to convey that although PCNL is ideal for large kidney stones, in selected cases, under expert guidance, RIRS can be looked upon as an option.
