What Is a Urodynamic Study
A urodynamic study is a group of diagnostic tests used to examine the function of the lower urinary tract. The lower urinary tract primarily includes the urinary bladder, urethra and sphincter muscles that control urine flow.
A healthy bladder should store urine at a safe pressure without causing pain, urgency or leakage. When a person decides to urinate, the bladder muscles should contract while the urinary sphincter and pelvic-floor muscles relax.
