RIRS in 80 year old female
RIRS or flexible ureteroscopy is a technique where fine instruments are passed onto the kidney and stone are broken into small particles using laser, and tiny stone fragments passes out gradually.
Due to its minimally invasive nature ( no bleeding , shorter hospital stay ) RIRS always scores over PCNL , Laparoscopy or open surgery.
80 year old female who had a stone on her left kidney iniatially had stent inserted into the affected kidney and 02 weeks later underwent RIRS. Within 02 weeks all fragments passed out and her Stent was removed.
